‘A Temporal Port – Queenscliff’ 2014, Oil on canvas

The inspiration for this painting came from a photograph of the Coota boats returning to the Queenscliff port (circa 1910). That combined with my first hand experience of the recent redevelopment of the Queenscliff port area led to this painting being created in a pointillist style. I chose pointillism to represent this scene as the style promotes an interaction as the viewer mixes the painting with their own eye to form the end result, the same way the locals interact, creating the space I have represented.
