This portrait of Bacchus the god of wine is a study based on the Michelangelo Merisi de Caravaggio painting, ‘Bacchus, god of wine’ 1593.
Image taken in Allans music, Bourke Street, Melbourne
Photograph taken at the Point Lonsdale Pier.
The inspiration for this painting came from a photograph of the Coota boats returning to the Queenscliff port (circa 1910). That combined with my first hand experience of the recent redevelopment of the Queenscliff port area led to this painting being created in a pointillist style.
